SWISS ENVOY HAILS PRIMER GROUP FOR ‘JAW-DROPPING’ BACKDROP

September 1, 2016

“Simply jaw-dropping.”

This was how Swiss Ambassador to the Philippines Andrea Reichlin described the 4×8 meter 3D backdrop which was designed and constructed by Primer Group of Companies’ full-scale print service provider, Brushstroke Creatives, and cutting-edge design firm, the Designery, for the Swiss Confederation’s 725th Founding Anniversary celebration held last August 3 at Fairmont Hotel in Makati City.

In a letter addressed to Primer Group’s Board of Directors, Reichlin thanked the company for the backdrop, which served as the centerpiece and one of the main attractions during the event.

“Our Swiss National Day celebration could not have achieved the grand look and feel it had without Primer’s work of art and love – for this is how I would call it!” the Swiss envoy said.

“We received so many awed comments and congratulatory remarks, and rightly so,” she added.

‘Biggest project yet’

Earlier in June, the Swiss envoy met with the Board of Directors and executives to discuss the partnership for the event.

According to UIGPI General Manager Agripino Ferrer said upon receiving partnership approval, they’ve immediately went to work on the project, in which they were only given three weeks to design and execute.

Meant to be a replica of Matterhorn, one of the highest mountains in Switzerland, Designery, headed by artist Jeffrey Robles, came up with the idea of creating a 3D embossed mountain equipped with LED lights. Meanwhile, the Brushstroke Creatives  team, led by Rene Bacaro, took charge in executing the ambitious plan.

Ferrer said considering the event location and allocated time of installation, the Designery decided to make the backdrop modular so as to enable the team to disassemble the installation piece and re-assemble it on the spot without having to use cutting tools and any.

“This is the first time we’ve done something this big,” he said. “But it was a success, and now we know how we can make the process even faster.”
