Nalgene started in 1949 as a company that made polyethylene laboratory equipment -- centrifuge bottles, filter units, storage tanks and the like. All this changed in the 1970s with a boy scout camping trip where Marsh Hyman (President of the Nalge Company in Rochester, New York) and his son found that Nalgene "lab equipement" was perfect for storing everything an outdoors person needs, from powdered drinks to shampoo.
After the discovery, Marsh, and Nalgene, had a new mission:
"Spread the word to outdoorspeople all over! Tell them about this new line of high-quality camping equipment."
And that's how NALGENE Outdoor Products started.
Nalgene bottles are extremely durable, leak proof, resistant to staining or retaining odors, recommended for "extreme" adventures, and can withstand temperatures from -135° to 135°C.
It's not a bottle. It's a Nalgene®
