The state of the country's educational system has often been a cause for long-overdrawn debates over what sorts of projects need to be done to arrest its rapidly declining quality. The month of June marks the beginning of the Philippine academic year, but despite the growing population rate, the percentage of the youth pursuing higher education seems to drop.
The Primer Center for Outdoor Recreation and Exploration, in recognition of the situation, with the support of CEC 88, World Vision and Rotary Club Fuente is putting up an advocacy project tagged as "Bag for a Cause" for the benefit of the students of Guba Elementary School in Busay, Cebu. Bags to be collected from this joint undertaking will be handed over to the most deserving and needy students of the school.
A lot of impoverished children cannot afford to buy big and sturdy bags for their books and meager supplies. In the process, their educational material becomes prone to tear and folds and creases. Having a durable and spacious backpack will keep their school supplies and study material in place. With this program, the Primer CORE and brands and with the staunch support of World Vision, CEC 88 and Rotary Club Fuente could only hope that they would be able to uplift the spirit and motivation of these deserving children to pursue their education, one bag at a time.
With the strong support from Primer Group’s leading brands and stores; Bratpack, R.O.X, Res/Toe/Run, FitFlop, Sanuk, Sledgers, Columbia Sportswear, DC Apparel, The North Face, Jansport, High Sierra, The Travel Club and Eastpak are opening its doors to accept used and functional backpacks and have it traded to new bags in specially discounted price.
